Hand Made by Rosemarie

Having been brought up in the 60’s to a very much ‘make do and mend’ family, I have always loved crafting, especially papercrafts and making greetings cards for family events.

This love has carried on over the years with me making and selling cards on various occasions to top up the family income. I now make them to give me some relaxation and to aid my mental health. The extra income comes in handy too!

I currently make cards using several different crafting styles.

  • Decoupage
  • Napkin Decoupage
  • Quilling
  • Tea Bag Folding
  • Iris Folding
  • Hand Stitched

I also make gift tags and gift boxes to match these styles.

All cards come blank inside for your own words and can be personalised with a number of greetings or sentiments.

If there is a special occasion coming up that you would like me to make a card for please contact me to see what I can offer.

Fen Mill Crafts – Mixed Media Using Powertex

Who Are Fen Mill Crafts?

We are are small business started by two sisters and have had a passion for crafting since our early teens.  We started with knitting and sewing and then moved on to paper crafting.  Paper crafting then took us on a journey with mixed media which has now taken us to our current adventures with Powertex.

What is Powertex?

Powertex is an amazingly versatile multi-purpose mixed media medium that can be used as a fabric hardener, paint and glue.    It is water soluble when wet, non toxic, environmentally friendly and weatherproof once cured.

Powertex has the highest American (AP) Safety label. The USA are very strict regarding the import of foreign products, especially when the product is suitable for use in the educational sector. The American AP Safety label is known worldwide for being the best.

Powertex works best as a fabric hardener on materials that are at least 80% natural fibre such as cotton, silk, lace and hessian.

We were amazed at the versatility of Powertex from the outset and have created a range of art pieces taking inspiration from nature and our love of the outdoors. Many of our projects are weatherproof and so are equally suited for placement in the garden or indoors.

Ted’s Shed Upcycles

Hello and welcome to our first blog post. We are Ted’s Shed Upcycles a local, small, family run business. We save items from heading to landfill and upcycle them into home decor and gifts.

WHO ARE WE?

Ted is Dad who is the DIY/ Woodwork expert.

Rosemarie is Mum who is the crafter and Mod Podge Queen!

Katie is daughter who is the social media, business and creative one

Ted’s work office for many years when he worked at Goodwood Motor Circuit was a shed! and was lovingly referred to as Ted’s Shed, so the name continues with this business.

During Lockdown 1.0 Katie found herself unable to do her job and her parents were both self-isolating. They were sent lots of government food parcels which had a lot of tins in. Rubbish/recycling bins were not being emptied as much, tips were not open and charity shops were not taking donations, this meant that between them they had a lot of unwanted items laying around. When it was safe to do so the met up and discussed starting up a little business upcycling the items they had. They started with the tins. It would give Ted and rosemarie something to keep them business during lockdowns and possibly some money earning for them all.

So Ted’s Shed Upcycles was formed and just over a year later they are still going well

You can purchase their items in Concessions 28 on Chatteris High Street or from their Etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/TedsShedUpcycles?ref=profile_header
